Johnson O'Malley & Title VII

Hilldale Public Schools Native American Education is a grant funded Program for those students with evidence of Native American ancestry.  The program operates with guidance from Title VII and Johnson O'Malley Indian Education.

Enrollment in JOM is not automatic at the time of school enrollment.  A 506 form and CDIB card documentation must be on file in order for a student to be enrolled and served.  The JOM program will emphasize three main areas throughout the school year.

  1. Reading - Improve reading skills.
  2. Native American Culture -€ Basket Weaving, Stick Ball, etc.
  3. Math -€ Provide students with the opportunity to succeed and excel in Mathematics.

In JOM, students will participate in mind and skill developing activities.  They will have opportunities to be in exciting field trips that will not just enunciate their heritage, but will offer cultural background knowledge.  Some other assistance we provide the JOM students are:

  • Assistance with school supplies
  • Tutoring during regular school hours
  • Summer school at elementary level

The teachers who assist with our JOM students are as follows.

  • Treva Filipps - Elementary
  • Wendy Scott - Middle and High School
