Gifted/Talented
The statutory definition of the gifted and talented states: "Gifted and talented children means those children identified at the elementary and secondary level as having demonstrated potential abilities of high performance capability and needing differentiated or accelerated education or services. For the purpose of this definition, demonstrated abilities of high performance capability means those identified students who score in the top three percent (97% and above) on any nationally standardized test of intellectual ability. Said definition may also include students who excel in one or more of the following areas: creative thinking ability, leadership ability, visual and performing arts ability and specific academic ability."
Hilldale Public School's mission is to provide educational excellence for all members of our school community. Our goal is to provide quality, research based curriculum and instruction that prepare all students for the future in a technology based society. Even though we are committed to the quality education of all students, we recognize the need to provide an enriched educational program for our gifted and talented students. It is an important goal for Hilldale Public School District to identify and provide appropriate educational experiences for those students who give evidence of high performance capability. We believe these students often require learning opportunities or experiences not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop such capabilities. The purpose of the Hilldale Enrichment (HEP) is to allow identified students the opportunity to fully maximize their potential.
