Welcome to the Cowboy Connection!
This is the March edition of Cowboy Connection from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Oklahoma State University.
Orientation and Housing
Orientation and housing registrations for the fall 2023 semester are now open. Students must submit their enrollment deposit in their application portal before they can register for both.
More information about our required orientation and enrollment programs can be found at okla.st/enroll. Information on housing, which is also required for incoming freshmen, can be found at reslife.okstate.edu.
Admitted Student Days
There is still space available for Admitted Student Days on the OSU campus for March 4 or virtually on March 7. Students will receive information about their next steps toward enrollment, learn more about their future academic program and see the campus services available to them.
They'll also be able to explore OSU's residential halls and Greek housing and meet other future Cowboys. Students who attend Admitted Student Days will be eligible to move into their campus housing early.
Spring Break Tours
Spring break is a great time for your students to schedule a campus tour! OSU offers weekday tours at 9:30 a.m. with an additional afternoon tour on Fridays at 1:30 p.m. Students can meet with representatives from their academic area of interest, the Honors College and the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
OSU's monthly Saturday tour is March 18 and includes a special information session for transfer students. Saturday tours include a browse session but no academic appointments.
Camp Cowboy Registration
Camp Cowboy registration is now open. Camp Cowboy, OSU's optional extended orientation program, is a fun-filled three days designed to give incoming OSU students a glimpse of life as a Cowboy. Attendees will form lifelong friendships, learn campus traditions and engage in leadership and service initiatives. Camps are offered throughout the summer.
Junior Day
Encourage your juniors to join us for Junior Day on April 22. We’ll introduce them to the 300-plus majors and options at Oklahoma State University, show them around our beautiful campus and tell them more about all the opportunities that await on their orange horizon.
Greek Discovery Day
Registration is now open for Greek Discovery Day. High school juniors and seniors can visit campus to explore OSU's award-winning fraternity and sorority community. Students will interact with current members, hear about life in a fraternity or sorority and learn more about the recruitment process. Students can choose to attend either April 1 or April 15.
The April 1 event includes additional programming specifically for students interested in National Pan-Hellenic Council (African American Greek organizations) and Multicultural Greek Council (Hispanic/Latinx, Asian American and Native American Greek organizations).
Experience OSU Classes
You and your students can experience classes at OSU through our new video series, The Front Row. The Front Row puts you inside the classroom alongside OSU students for a sample lecture on topics ranging from Principles of Marketing to our most recent, Stormwater: What's the Solution? Check back regularly to see new classes added and hear from our outstanding professors.
Engineering and Science Night
Encourage your students to register for OSU/OU Engineering & Science College Night scheduled for March 20, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hamm Institute in Oklahoma City. Representatives from OSU and OU STEM majors will be on hand to discuss interests and opportunities with students.
Financial Aid
Financial aid and scholarships continue to be awarded for admitted students who have filed their FAFSA using OSU's school code 003170. Remind your students to check often at my.okstate.edu for new awards.
Students must log in and accept their financial aid. Some awards must be accepted by May 1 or they may be canceled. For more detailed instructions on accepting financial aid, direct your students here.
Appointments Available Now
Our admissions counselors offer one-on-one appointments with students and parents to explain their financial aid awards, outline the orientation and enrollment process, or answer any questions about OSU. Please encourage your students to schedule an appointment.
It's Not Too Late!
Our Early Opportunity and Priority scholarship deadlines may have passed, but it's not too late for students to apply and receive scholarships. OSU's Final Scholarship Deadline is Aug. 18, the Friday before fall 2023 classes begin.
Sports Media Camp
Registration is open for OSU's Sports Media Camp scheduled for June 7-10, 2023. Sponsored by OSU's School of Media and Strategic Communications, the camp is open to students 16 and older. Campers will work a live sporting event, learning the basics of play-by-play and reporting for both broadcast and print media.
Major Spotlight
The power to motivate people is essential to any organization. Our agricultural leadership students graduate with a solid foundation in leadership as it relates to effectively working with people and teams from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Students can take advantage of the major's flexibility to customize coursework according to their career interests.
