Bullying Prevention Program
Our school is proud to have the Olweus Anti-Bullying program for the following reasons: It is a program designed for all students, it is a preventative and responsive program, it focuses on changing norms and restructuring the school setting, it is researched-based, and is not time-limited which is to say it is a program that is here to stay.
In our school, posters are hung in every classroom and throughout the building which state our expectations:
- We will not bully others - All students will feel safe and be treated fairly.
- We will help and support students who are bullied.
- We will include students who are left out.
- If we know that somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school.
- Everyone will feel welcome at Hilldale Middle School!
Our students are being taught the definition of bullying which is, "Bullying is a form of violence. Violence is any mean word, look, sign or act that hurts a person's body, feelings or things."
This program is just another part of the Character Education initiative that we have at Hilldale Middle School.
