The OU orientation experience starts with New Sooner Orientation!
New Sooner Orientation registration opens Wednesday, February 1, but there are a few things students need to complete before they can schedule a NSO. Please help us share the message with your admitted students!
New Sooner Orientation (NSO) is the first step in the orientation process for every new student's successful transition to OU. Students will meet with their academic advisor, enroll in classes, and learn about campus resources! There will be in-person and virtual New Sooner Orientation days for students to choose from.
Parents and families are invited to attend NSO and will have focused parent and family sessions during the day. Registration for in-person orientation for family members also opens on February 1, and it is $15 for each family member who plans to attend an on-campus NSO day. Family members can attend virtual NSO Days with their students without having to register.
Before a student can schedule a New Sooner Orientation Day the following items must be completed:
If available, submit official ACT or SAT scores directly to OU
In order for students to be placed into the right classes at OU during NSO, students MUST send official ACT or SAT test scores directly to OU. Without sending official test scores for verification, students will be required to complete all three course placement assessments, including math, reading, and English. However, once we have official scores, depending on the score, students may be excused from these assessments. Encourage your students to send official scores before February 1 if they have them!
